Rice-A-Really?

I really felt at ease about the situation at work when I read the comments on my last post.  Thanks guys!  It seems as though many of you have had similar experiences.  Who says you can’t enjoy healthy food?

I do love healthy foods.   It’s not a matter of forcing myself to eat food that is good for me.   I really enjoy it…especially Autumn vegetables!  Or maybe I just love Autumn…

Autumn is such a beautiful season.  I love the vibrant orange and gold of the leaves  on the trees.

This is not my picture

I love the look of a pea coat with a scarf  and a good pair of jeans.

I love autumn produce.

In my oats with AB and Naturally More of course.

The flavors of autumn are in a league of their own.   You will see a lot of squash, sweet potatoes, cinnamon, nutmeg and savory soups on my blog throughout the autumn and well into the winter.

My autumn cravings included a dish that was a staple in my Mid-West Mama’s kitchen

Chilli!  This is actually Healthy Valley Vegetarian Chilli.  ‘Twas not so fab.

I had to doctor it with LOTS of cumin and some Oikos (like sour cream)

IMG_0783_1

Yup, that was the last of the Oikos…

My mom made her chili with ground beef from the cattle that my grandparents raised and  tomatoes she had grown in her own garden and canned herself.  I would like to find a good recipe for Vegetarian Chilli.

Some flavors have no affiliation with any particular season.  They are just plain delicious.

Peanut Butter and Chocolate

…and some other tasty treats from Monica!  This giveaway treat pack had a Lindts Chocolate bar made with sea salt which is something I have never tried!  It also contained the most adorable tiny PB Cups from Trader Joe’s !  I have so many ideas for these tiny treats…  There were also TJ’s fruit leathera and a couple different brands of bars!! I will be trying these soon!

Snuffy enjoyed the card and spent a good 20 minutes practicing the pronunciation of AL-LI-GA-TOR

Thanks Monica!

Speaking of trying new things…

I opened the cabinet to find these a few days ago.  Mallard likes to do a little of his own grocery shopping.  This usually happens when he looks through the fridge and pantry and all that we have is what he calls “Swan food”.  My initial reaction to these boxes was that they were falsely marketed as “natural”.  So, I consulted the ingredient panel.

Not perfect but it could be worse.  I will just place these back where I found them and wait for Mallard to be the guinea pig.

Take a look at Holly’s selfless way of showing holiday spirit.

Well my Confidants, I am off to create a working model of a human hand.  I will post pics when it’s finished

Namaste

What a neat care package! I can’t wait to see all of the goodies!

What do you normally put in your oats? And what do you normally eat for lunch? I’m always looking lunch ideas!

I love fall and winter fruits and veggies too. All together, fall is my favorite season! I’m sad it’s coming to an end :(

Your package full of goodies looks fantastic! Looks like someone did some serious damage at Trader Joe’s. Those are some of my favorite products, especially that dark chocolate!

Cant wait to hear how that rice turns out. You’re right, the ingredients could definitely be worse.

I love fall eats, too, and all of the gorgeous colors.

Pea coats or wool coats + scarves are my fave. :-)

Uh oh…. I bought a can of that Healthy Valley chili to put on top of a sweet potato. Maybe it’ll taste okay then?

I’ve had some good vegetarian chili in my day… now I just need to make my own. I’ll let you know when I find something really spectacular :)

I LOVE the Lindt with sea salt! I just discovered it a while ago–one great thing, besides the taste obv, is that one square is pretty rich and satisfying, so there’s not really a risk of downing the whole bar at once–maybe that’s only a problem for me :) I’ve used those little pb cups in my oats before–here’s the link. they were so good!

Healthy food tastes better then junk! So clean and unprocessed!

I made homemade PB cups and they were so addictive. I don’t think I could be trusted around the minis!

A working hand? Hmmm sounds difficult!

I’ve never had a buttercup squash! Sounds good, though. I never cooked a squash before this year, but now I love them!
What a nice package in the mail! Heck yeah!
    Have a good day! :)

My coworkers give me crap about what I eat. Nor have they noticed how much weight I’ve lost by changing my diet (25 lbs and counting)

I work with a bunch of jerks though. Very self centered, uncaring jerks. They are also extremely unhealthy jerks!

Oh well. I’ve learned to ignore them!
