Body For Life Week One and Moving On…
I’m not a quitter.
There were a LOT of things that I loved about Body For Life
* I love eating multiple times each day!

Steamed Broccolli, Nasoya Nayonaise, Tuna
280 cals/17 g carbs/31 g prot/8.5 g fat (must be eaten with stone ground wheat crackers to be BFL friendly
)

Jewel Yam with Naturally More PB and MGN Cupcake Batter Protein Powder (mixed with a lil h2O)

Kashi Go Lean, Plain Oikos, Naturaly More PB

Oat Bran, Almond Butter, MGN Cupcake Protein Powder ( love that stuff!)
*I love HIIT cardio and weight training!
*I love copying Janetha’s workouts
I enjoyed BFL and yes I am still in my first week. However, something has come up…

One year ago, Mallard starting talking about P90X. His boss had begun the program. His boss was in his late twenties and already fairly fit but he still saw great results from P90X. I was put off by the extreme infomercials and marketing.
Fast forward to now.
My friend’s brother-in-law started P90X and lost a few pants sizes. He only changed his nutrition for the first few days. He drank on the weekends. He still saw results.
Snuffy kept me up with her sinus infection every night last weekend. What was on TV? The P90X commercial about 30,000 times. It pulled me in. I got excited. I googled it. I found out Lindsey and her husband are doing the P90X thang.
The P90X nutrition plan will be similiar to BFL in that I will eat multiple times each day.
There are three different “levels” on the P90X Nutrition Plan. The levels are associated with three plans that range from 1800 to 3000 calories per day.
There are also three phases on The P90X Nutrition Plan. Each phase lasts for 30 days. Thus, the 90 day program
There does seem to be some debate among bloggers as to the macros associated with the P90X Nutrition Plan. I would fall into the lower calorie range based on my weight and Body Fat
There is speculation that:
*the protein content is too high, especially during the first phase.
*the number of fruit and vegetable servings is too low.
*the carbohdrate content is too low, especially during the first phase.
I respect those that have voiced their opinions.
I agree that two servings of vegetables and one serving of fruit for an 1800 calorie meal plan is minimal. The higher calories plans add more produce. The later phases offer more as well. But, my carbohydrate choices will be mostly vegetables which puts my veggie servings higher
Alhtough I don’t plan to purchase the P90X bars and shakes, Mallard and I are going to follow the P90X meal plan.
I want to follow the Workouts and Nutrition Plan as accurately as possible in order to take full advantage of the program and attain the results I desire.
Mallard has done crazy low carb diets before so the Phase One Nutrition Plan won’t be too rough for him. Not cheating on the weekends will be his biggest obstacle.
I have never felt that I needed a “cheat day”. IF I wanted something badly enough, I would eat it
I really don’t eat anything that isn’t allowed on P90X. I rarely eat out and when I do it’s grilled meat and veggies or the like. The biggest change in my diet will be during the first 30 days of the program when I will be consuming less fruit and whole grains and more protein.
In fact I think the only things that I will miss are:
*Naturally More and Raspberry Jam on Ezekiel bread
*Kashi Heart To Heart with Naturally More and Vanilla Oikos
*Hummus
*Massive amounts of Oats
Mallard told me that he will do his best to stop drinking on the weekends. I hope he is able to!
Basically he is trying to lose excess Body Fat and increase endurance. I don’t think it’s quite fair to post his BF and weight but his BMI is 30 if that makes sense to you.
I am doing P90X because:
I want something to totally shake up my workout routine and challenge me like never before!
My gym is closing for renovation during the first few weeks of April so I needed an alternative anyway.
I did reach a happy weight and Body Fat a few months back….then I reached beyond it lol.
I would love to be leaner and stronger!
Mallard has never been this excited about fitness or nutrition! I am taking full advantage!!
Have you tried P90X? Thoughts?

I’ve done of few of the P90X workouts. There is no doubt that the workouts are great!!!
Personally speaking they are longer than I like to workout for and Tony Horton’s personality is a little too over the top for my taste.
I got the P90X set for Christmas! I’ve done a few of the videos and really like them! I hear that you can’t build much muscle on it due to it being high reps/low weight, but I’ve also heard of people who have gotten really buff off it so I can’t wait to see your progress!
Hey girl. I do the P90X workouts “just because.” I was bored with my old strength training things so I was doing ONLY the strength workouts form P90X. I like them because they are moves that I have never tried before. AND now I can do pull ups!
I didn’t follow the nutrition plan at all though because I was on a little “weight gain” plan – I got too skinny from other reasons.
My friends have done the whole thing though and a few of them got some SERIOUS results. Good luck with it!! Update us with progress pics.
Lastly, regarding the cupcake post…your daughter is tooooo cute!
I’m excited to see how this goes for you. I have the P90X set. I have yet to follow it through as it’s supposed to be but I do some of the workouts at least once a week just to switch up my routine and I really like them. I want to consider doing it full out at some point (though I don’t know for sure if I’d try to follow the nutrition plan as well) but I’m not ready for it quite yet. I’ll have to see how it works out for you!
I’ve never tried P90X, but I have been dying to! Let us know how it goes! It looks so fun.
I’ve done the Plyo P90X video and it was a lot of fun! Definitely got my heartrate up.
I truly believe 90 % of workout plans etc will give you results as long as you are consistent with it. So go for it and keep us updated on how you like it!
I’ve never tried PX90, but one of my gym buddies always does the strength moves and she has killer abs!! I’m interested to see how you like it!!
I am new to this, so I appreciate your thorough review. I guess since I am someone who gives people “Diets” and plans diets for people, I feel like it’s a waste of money if I subscribe to another diet, or pay for another book or diet plan, you know? This program sounds like a really great one, but I will agree that 2.5 servings of fruits and vegetables isn’t even CLOSE to enough. I like to recommend 5-6 per day. Good for Mallard for getting into it. I don’t blame you for being excited about that!! I hope he sticks to it.
I’ve never done P90X but heard great things about it. Ok…..and I dont have cable so every Sunday morning I have the infomercial playing in the background at home so feel like I know all about it.
Can’t wait to read more about your experience with it!
I’m doing P90X right now. I am in my first week. I haven’t been following the nutrition plan though.
